ประเพณีวิ่งควาย

       ประเพณีวิ่งควาย เป็นงานประเพณีประจำจังหวัดชลบุรี เป็นหนึ่งในประเพณีอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของจังหวัดชลบุรีที่มีการจัดมากว่า 100 ปีแล้ว ประเพณีวิ่งควาย เป็นประเพณีที่จัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปี ในวันขึ้น 14 ค่ำ เดือน 11 หรือก่อนออกพรรษา 1 วัน เพื่อเป็นการทำขวัญควายและให้ควายได้พักผ่อนหลังจากตรากตรำกับการงานในท้องนามายาวนาน นอกจากนี้ประเพณีวิ่งควายยังเป็นการแสดงความกตัญญูรู้คุณต่อควายที่เป็นสัตว์มีบุญคุณต่อชาวนาและคนไทยอีกทั้งยังเพื่อให้ชาวบ้านได้มีโอกาสพักผ่อนมาพบปะสังสรรค์กันในงานวิ่งควาย


ก็จะนำผลิตผลของตนบรรทุกเกวียนมาขายให้ชาวบ้านร้านตลาดไปพร้อมๆ กัน ต่างคนต่างก็ถือโอกาสมาพบปะสนทนากัน บ้างก็จูงควายเข้าเที่ยวตลาดจนกลายมาเป็นการแข่งขันวิ่งควายกันขึ้น และจากการที่ชาวไร่ชาวนาต่างก็พากันตกแต่งประดับประดาควายของตนอย่างสวยงามนี่เอง ทำให้เกิดการประกวดประชันความสวยงามของควายกันขึ้น พร้อมๆ ไปกับการแข่งขันวิ่งควาย

ปัจจุบัน ประเพณีวิ่งควายในเขตเทศบาลเมืองชลบุรี จะจัดในวันขึ้น 14 ค่ำ เดือน 11 อำเภอบ้านบึงจัดในวันขึ้น 15 ค่ำ เดือน 11 ตลาดหนองเขิน อำเภอบ้านบึง จัดในวันแรม 1 ค่ำ เดือน 11 วัดดอนกลาง ตำบลแสนสุข อำเภอเมือง จัดวิ่งควายในวันทอดกฐินประจำปีของวัด

Current traditional buffalo race in Chonburi Municipality. Dinner will be held on the 14th day of the 11th month Banbung to 15 months in 11 markets in the waning days of the swamps dry Banbung one evening in the middle of the 11th Don Muang district pay for the running of the buffalo in the annual ceremony.
